Course Overview
This NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) qualification will prepare you to become an early year’s educator or practitioner, which is also known as a nursery lead teacher.
Upon successful completion of this qualification, you can apply for roles as early year’s practitioner and educator roles in an early year’s settings in which you will be working with children aged from birth to five years of age.
The course covers the health and wellbeing of children and their learning, play, and development to prepare them for school. You will also study the legislation, frameworks, and professional practice involved in working in an early year’s setting.

This is the ideal qualification for anyone who is looking to work in Early Years settings. The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) qualification prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with and care for children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.
The first FREE unit will take approximately 1 week. You have 12 months to complete the diploma program.
- Learners must be at least 18 years of age.
- Learners must have completed at least high school and Level 2 or Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent.
- Learners must be working or volunteering with children in a registered early years setting.
- Learners must be able to surf the internet, send and receive emails and complete work using a computer.
While enrolled in this course, you will be required to complete a set of tasks which three age groups that will help you gain specific set of skills. We strongly advise that you complete the following number of hours working with the following age ranges:
Infants: Birth – 1 year 11 months: 25 hours
Toddlers: 2 – 2 years 11 months: 133 hours
Pre-schoolers: 3 – 5 years: 192 hours
As practical evidence is required for all age groups in all units, we recommend that you complete the hours for all age groups throughout the duration of your course. This will ensure you are able to meet the practical evidence requirements to pass the qualification.
In order to gain this qualification, the learner will need to:
- Pass all 23 units with their tasks.
- Complete 1 longitudinal study (you will be required to work with a particular child, do a case study, and present your findings)
- Show competence in a real work environment through direct observation, professional discussion, or expert witness testimony (within 12 months of enrolling in this course).
